The Malt Shovel in Chorley has been issued with temporary closure notice from 7am on March 27 to 7am on March 29.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “The closure notice means that the pub is prohibited from selling alcohol for two days but is still able to serve food and soft drinks.

“Officers issued the notice under Section 169A(2) of the Licensing Act 2003 following two repeat test operations in three months where staff were found to of sold alcohol to underage children.

“Licensing officers are continuing to work with the licensees to improve staff training to ensure no further failures of their licence take place.”
