Lichfield District Council have been praised for leading the way with a new online planning tool.

[TwitterPlan](http://twitterplan.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk), created by the council’s Stuart Harrison, allows people to subscribe to planning alerts on social networking site [Twitter](http://twitter.com/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

Other councils are already looking to utilise the tool which can give users applications relating to their street, neighbourhood or wider area.

And now digital media expert Rick Waghorn – founder of [MyFootballWriter](http://www.myfootballwriter.com/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) – has heaped praise on the development.

Writing on his blog, Mr Waghorn said:

> “Three cheers to all concerned – particularly Stuart Harrison. And fair play too to Lichfield District Council, they’re doing their job – digitally engaging with their 2009 ‘audience’; delivering them the kind of eminently useful and appropriately-targetted service that I, as a district council tax-payer, would expect and applaud.
