David Cameron’s words come after the Ministry of Defence confirmed the amount of money the Alrewas site received would be heavily reduced.

But now the Prime Minister has responded to [criticism of the move](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2014/03/24/national-memorial-arboretum-funding-cuts-a-national-disgrace/) by Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant.

Mr Cameron said he had been “moved” by his visits to the Arboretum and said funding would be guaranteed “for as long as I am Prime Minister”.

“No-one should be in any doubt that this government and this Prime Minister strongly support the Arboretum.

“I’m confident if the National Memorial Arboretum continues to need support it will continue to get support,” Mr Cameron said in an interview with the BBC.
