PLANS to build an extension at a property in Lichfield have been rejected.

The proposals had been put forward for 35 Grange Lane which would have seen the single-storey expansion to the existing garage and porch to create an enlarged kitchen and downstairs toilet.

It would also have seen the driveway made larger.

But a planning notice said the plans would not be approved:

> "The garage extension by virtue of its strong deviation from the existing predominant building line along Grange Lane would appear discordant with the predominant character of the streetscene.
>
> "The discordancy would be exacerbated by the use of render as a finish for the external walls.
>
> "In this respect the proposal would not be sympathetic to local character and fail to maintain a strong sense of place."
