Lichfield RUFC avoided any slip-ups as they produced an emphatic display to beat Camp Hill 72-19.

The visitors to Cooke Fields were in a poor run of form and with nothing to lose they attempted to get at their hosts early on.

The Greens weathered the early storm and their first period of sustained posssession saw Luke Taplin score the first of many points for Lichfield in the game.

The match was somewhat of a stalemate for 15 minutes, and with the home side ringing the changes, the final ten minutes of the half yielded three converted tries from Lichfield.

With the score at 26-0 as the half time whistle went, the Greens had secured themselves a bonus point without hitting top gear.

This was to be their downfall in the first five minutes of the second half as the ball was turned over and Camp Hill launched an assault through their forwards, eventually powering their way over.

This was to be a short-lived respite for the visitors, though, as the Lichfield backs started to make real use of the ball their forwards were giving them. Debutant Dave Lote found himself in space to break and fend off the final defender to score under the posts.

Excellent supporting lines from Josh Massey and Brad Rowlands saw them cross the try line, with Massey adding the points, before centre Tom Adams finished off his hat-trick with some powerful runs.

This sustained 20 minutes of play saw Lichfield race away with the game, taking the score to 67-7.

Even with the game dead and buried, Camp Hill showed real tenacity to finish strong and leave with something for their efforts. The final ten minutes saw their forwards make inroads and they crossed the line twice in five minutes to give the ending some real spice.

Lichfield were resolute in their defence and when they turned the ball over in their 22, it was moved quickly through the hands, excellent support play resulting in Dan Rowlands crossing for the final try of the game.
