The rare violin discovered in Lichfield

A rare violin which was discovered in Lichfield is expected to fetch £2,000 when it goes to auction.

The instrument is believed to be 200 years old and of Irish origin.

It will go under the hammer at the [Mackworth Hotel](http://www.hansonsauctioneers.co.uk/pages/mackworth-hotel?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) in Derby on April 23.

Charles Hanson, manager of [Hansons Auctioneers](http://www.hansonsauctioneers.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk), said:

> “We are pleased to be handling the sale of the violin. We hope it will play sweet music hitting the right note and selling for up to £2,000.”
