Chase Terrace Primary School and Fulfen Primary School are the latest to join the 20 is Plenty scheme which sees a reduced limit during school drop-off and collection times.

Speed Indication Devices which display how fast a vehicle is travelling as it passes will also be used to encourage drivers to slow down.

Cllr Mark Deaville, Staffordshire County Council’s transport chief, said: “We first launched the scheme in 2010 and so far over 200 schools across the county have benefited from it.

“The campaign calls on drivers not to put pupils lives at risk by driving above 20 miles an hour when outside schools. The scheme is also encouraging more parents and children to walk and cycle to school which helps to reduce traffic at school times.”
