A KEY route in Lichfield has reopened after an 11-day closure.

The A38 has been shut in both directions to allow for the carriageway to be realigned as part of HS2 works.

The closure has caused disruption on local roads, with all vehicles being diverted via alternative routes.

But a HS2 spokesperson has confirmed the road has now reopened ahead of schedule:

> “I am pleased to confirm that the A38 carriageways in both directions between Swinfen Interchange and Hilliard’s Cross are now fully open to road users.
>
> “Thanks to our teams working continuously over the past 11 days including throughout the Easter bank holiday weekend, we have been able to reopen the road five hours ahead of schedule.
>
> “Please be aware that the northbound on‑slip at Streethay will remain closed until October.
>
> “Thank you for your patience and cooperation while these essential works were carried out.”
