# Report backs plan to allow extra time for Lichfield City FC’s floodlights

A report has backed plans to increase the amount of time floodlights can be used at Lichfield City FC.

The Brownsfield Park club has applied for planning permission to allow it to use the lights for training as well as matches.

The floodlights were installed in 2012 with a condition that they could only be used for matches.

An officer’s report to the council’s planning committee says: “As the floodlights are already in existence, the appearance of the site will not be altered.

“It is recognised that the site context is not one of rural tranquillity. Rather, it is within the settlement limits of the city, immediately adjacent to an industrial site, illuminated roads and residential estates.

“In my opinion, although used more intensively, the floodlighting would continue to not appear out of context or present such a degree of visual harm as would justify a reason for refusal on this basis.”

A decision will be made by the planning committee on December 14.
