A REPORT has recommended plans for 72 new homes on land in Whittington should be approved.

Under the proposals, an existing property at 64 Back Lane would be demolished to make way for the new development.

A planning committee will discuss the proposals at a meeting on Monday (27th April).

More than 50 residents have objected to the scheme over concerns with issues including development on green belt land, impact on local infrastructure and highways.

But report by a council official said the scheme – which would include a new access road which would “merge with Huddlesford Lane” – should be given the green light.

They added:

> “Officers do not consider the development is inappropriate in the green belt, at least in part because the application site is deemed ‘grey belt’, having satisfied the relevant tests set out.
>
> “The development and alterations to the existing highways layout would introduce change to the local area, though not an unacceptable level of harm in landscape terms.”
