# Report claims Lichfield burials are the most expensive in the country

Lichfield is the most expensive place to be buried in the UK, according to a new survey.

New figures show that on average a burial in the city costs £1,270, according to [a report in the Birmingham Mail](http://www.birminghammail.net/news/top-stories/2010/11/24/lichfield-named-as-uk-s-most-expensive-place-to-bury-the-dead-65233-27708890/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

The study by Avalon Funeral Plans showed that the cheapest interment was just £50 in Blaby, Leicestershire.

Mike Cooper, managing director at Avalon, said:

> “As space dwindles and fees grow, the number of burials is expected to decrease rapidly. It seems that dying has become a very expensive business.”
