# Report says "significant progress" being made on efforts to tackle homelessness across Lichfield and Burntwood

LEADERS at Lichfield District Council will be told about the "significant progress" on efforts to prevent homelessness.

[A performance report](https://democracy.lichfielddc.gov.uk/documents/s21567/Appendix%20B%20-%20Housing%20homelessness%20and%20rough%20sleeping%20strategy%20-%20oveview%20performance%20report%20-%20Y1.pdf?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) into the local authority's Housing, Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy will be discussed by the cabinet at a meeting this evening (13th July).

It outlines how 22 properties have been purchased and occupied to provide "immediate local capacity", while a further seven are in the pipeline.

The report also added that outreach work had been carried out during the 2025-26 period, including housing roadshows and drop-in clinics.

It added:

> "The first year of our strategy has been a year of significant progress, bold delivery and strong foundations for the future.

> "Across housing delivery, homelessness prevention, and raising standards, we have moved from ambition to action - securing new homes, investing at scale, strengthening partnerships and putting residents at the heart of everything we do."

The report said that work to increase the amount of affordable and social homes was also taking place.

The council has secured 28 social rented homes at Cricket Lane as well as securing "significant investment" into housing delivery and acquisition.

The report said the new strategy was having an impact on the lives of local people"

> "This work is already making a real difference to residents across Lichfield district by providing safe homes, earlier support and better outcomes."
