Plans for a new health centre in Burntwood are set to go on display.

An artist’s impression of the new medical centre in Burntwood

The site of the former Greenwood House Nursing Home could become the new base for the Darwin Medical Practice.

The facility would include 13 consulting rooms, five treatment rooms and a health education space. There is also an adjoining pharmacy planned.

Cllr Alan White, deputy leader of Staffordshire County Council and Cabinet member for health, care and wellbeing, said: “This proposal means people in Burntwood can look forward to a new, first class practice close to home that meets all the community’s needs.”

The proposals will go on display between 4pm and 7pm on September 18 at Burntwood Memorial Institute on Rugeley Road.

Darrell Jackson, Primary Care Lead for NHS England in the North Midlands, said: “This is a really exciting project which is enabling NHS England, Staffordshire County Council and the existing Darwin Medical Practice to deliver better primary care services to the residents of Burntwood.

“The public exhibition will give patients and the public the first opportunity to see and comment on the plans and design prior to an application for planning approval being submitted.

“There is still a lot of hard work to do, but we anticipate that this new health facility could be completed during 2020”.
