# Six injured after car and van collide in Lichfield

Two women have been airlifted to hospital and four other people have been injured after a car and a van collided in Lichfield.

The accident happened at Wall Island on the Birmingham Road at around 3.45pm this afternoon (April 5).

Three ambulances, an incident support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulances from Cosford and Staffordshire were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:

> “Crews arrived to find a car and van that had been involved in a serious collision. Both vehicles had suffered significant damage. Two women from the car, believed to be in their 20s and 40s, suffered serious multiple injuries in the crash.

> “Crews commenced emergency treatment at the scene before both women were airlifted to hospital; one to Selly Oak in Birmingham and one to University Hospital North Staffordshire. Medics at both hospitals were pre alerted to the arrival of the women who were both in a serious condition.

A 14 year old girl from the car was treated on scene for minor injuries and the effects of shock.

The spokeswoman added:

> “One man from the car was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board as a precaution and another man from the car, believed to be in his 40s, sustained minor injuries.

> “The driver of the van, a man in his 60s, suffered hip pain and was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board. All four were taken by land ambulances to Good Hope Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
