# Speed sign set to be installed outside Lichfield school

A sign telling motorists how fast they are going is being installed outside a school in Lichfield.

Rocklands Primary School is among 16 locations across Staffordshire that will have a speed indication device (SID) in operation during the summer term.

The equipment will be put in place on Purcell Avenue and flash when motorists are travelling at more than 20mph.

County Councillor Alan White said: “The ’20 is Plenty’ scheme has received overwhelming support from the community since it was launched in 2010\. Road safety is of paramount importance to the people of Staffordshire and the county council is constantly trialling new and innovative ways of making our highways even safer.

“This is all about changing driver behaviour and, in doing so, reducing accidents among some of the most vulnerable members of the community. One young person being injured – or even worse, killed – on the county’s roads is one too many.”

The ’20 is Plenty’ signs will be in operation during school run times to protect pupils, but ensure that traffic flows are unaffected when children are in class, and during school holidays.
