# Staff and students at Lichfield school put on their festive finest to raise funds for charity

STUDENTS and staff at Nether Stowe School donned their cosy Christmas jumpers as part of a festive fundraising effort for Save The Children.

Cover and timetable manager Georgia Young led the initiative as part of the school’s Christmas celebrations.

Students and staff who participated were invited to donate money to the worthy cause, with the school community coming together to reach their donation target.

Miss Young said:

> “We wanted to get involved in Christmas jumper day but not just for the sake of it – we don’t want to forget that we’re doing it in aid of Save The Children.

> “Everyone’s been involved. The kids were full of smiles and all the staff have participated too.  
>  
> “For the fundraising, we set a small target of £100, because some students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and we didn’t want to force everyone to donate.  
>  
> “We’ve hit our target and we’re hoping it will keep growing over the next few days as our donation box remains open.”

The Christmas jumper day was one of a number of festive activities put on by thew school, including a card designing competition and a special Christmas dinner.

But for Miss Young, the support for Save The Children was the highlight of the holiday season at Nether Stowe School.

> “This charity scheme has been important in two ways. Firstly, it’s important to highlight that Christmas can be difficult for some families and children, and show our students that we can do our bit to help.

> “Aside from the charity aspect, it’s also nice to remind the students that you can have fun in school. You can still be your own person and have a laugh, while also respecting the message of what we’re doing.  
>  
> “I’d like to thank everyone who got involved, and especially the staff who made such an effort – seeing teachers get stuck in and celebrate really makes a difference for the students.  
>  
> “I’m really proud of what we’ve managed to accomplish for the charity.”
