STAFF at a Lichfield business have raised money for a dementia charity by taking up a cycling challenge.

The Specsavers team covered the equivalent distance from the city to Vienna – where the Eurovision Song Contest was held – on a static bike in store.

Their efforts saw them raise £231 for Dementia Caring.

Praful Patel, store director, said:

> "Our cycling challenge was a massive success – and the whole team was so keen to get involved.
>
> "Dementia Caring is a wonderful charity that does vital work to support individuals living with dementia right here in our local community.
>
> "A big thank you to everyone who came out to cheer us on, we couldn’t have done it without your support."

Angela Brookes, from Dementia Caring, said:

> "We are so incredibly grateful to the Specsavers Lichfield team for taking on such a huge challenge.
>
> "The money raised will directly contribute to our Time Out Clubs. These sessions are a lifeline, providing people living with dementia and their caregivers by giving them a much-needed break through engaging activities like music, exercise, games and arts and crafts."
