Lichfield driver Adam Christodoulou endured a “disheartening” time as he made his first appearance at Imola.

An up-and-down weekend saw the six-hour race hampered by technical problems for the city racer.

A below-par qualifying effort wasn’t helped when overheating in the cockpit led to a penalty before the car even made it to the grid.

But Christodoulou did enough in the early stages to muscle the car into fourth before handing it over to team-mate Klaas Hummel.

However, the bad luck struck again when a tyre blow out forced the CRS Racing carback into the pits. Third driver Phil Quaife clawed some time back before giving the Lichfield driver another spell behind the wheel.

Things looked promising as the car again closed on the front-runners, but the cockpit was again overheating and anouther pitstop left Christodoulou in fifth at the chequered flag.

He said:

> “The result was disheartening for the whole team. It had been yet another race where there had seemed to be a strong chance of a podium result, but unfortunately events had conspired against them, and a much sought-after victory failed to materialise.”

Christodoulou will return to Le Mans Series action on the weekend of September 9 when Silverstone plays host to the championship.
