# Three arrested over post office raid in Barton-under-Needwood

Three men have been arrested after a burglary at a post office near Lichfield.

Cash was taken in the raid on the Barton-under-Needwood branch on Main Street at 6.20am this morning (February 23). It followed previous offences earlier in the day at another post office in Gnosall and a house in Shareshill.

Staffordshire Police, Cheshire Police, the Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) and North West Motorway Policing Group (NWMPG) stepped up patrols to search for the offenders and arrested the men near Sandbach Services on the M6 after a short pursuit.

The men – one aged 17 and two aged 25 – from the Merseyside area, have been taken into custody and are being questioned.

Detectives believe that the burglaries are linked and are liaising with other forces in relation to other possible offences. They are also appealing for anyone who may have information on any of the raids, or who saw any suspicious activity to contact them.

They also want to speak to anyone who saw a bright red Vauxhall acting suspiciously near the locations in Gnosall and Barton-under-Needwood.

Witnesses should contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 92 of February 23, or alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
