# Time running out for Lichfield and Burntwood residents to register to vote

Time is running out for people in Lichfield and Burntwood to register to vote in district and parish elections.

Lichfield District Council has published the Notice of Election – a legal document which gives formal announcement that ballots will take place in May.

Polling cards will now be going out – but those who haven’t registered before April 20 will not be able to cast their vote.

Diane Tilley, Electoral Registration Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: “Time is running out to make sure you are registered to vote. It only takes a few minutes to register, and by doing so you will be able to have your say in deciding who governs both locally and nationally.”

The council is also urging voters to check their poll cards as their polling station may have changed following the recent Boundary Review by the Local Government Boundary Commission. This recommended that the district council should have nine fewer councillors and some changes to ward boundaries.
