# Two men admit fly-tipping near Lichfield

Two men have been prosecuted after being seen dumping bags of rubbish near Lichfield.

Joseph Rayson, 19, of Ash Tree Lane in Lichfield, and Harry Cademy, 19 and from Highfields Avenue in Handsacre, pleaded guilty to a fly-tipping offence at Tamworth Magistrates Court last month.

The pair were both sentenced to a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £306 court costs.

Councillor Ian Pritchard, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Environmental Protection, said:

> “It costs us more than £73,000 a year to clear up illegally dumped rubbish from across the district. Fly tipping can ruin the whole look and feel of an area, and we take it very seriously. During the case it emerged that Joseph Rayson and Harry Cademy had offered to dispose of a resident’s waste for a £10 fee. This shows just how important it is to check the credentials of anyone you employ to take away any waste from your home.

> “A big thank you to the Handsacre resident who saw the offence taking place, and reported it to the police. We hope more people will follow your good example and help us to keep the district tidy.”
