# Vicar given the task of transforming communities by the Diocese of Lichfield

A Gloucestershire vicar has been given the task of transforming communities across Staffordshire and the Black Country by the Diocese of Lichfield.

The Revd David Primrose, currently vicar of Thornbury and Oldbury-on-Severn with Shepperdine in south Gloucestershire, will support parishes in the north west Midlands on issues as diverse as mission in the economy, urban poverty, rural issues, mental health, ministry with deaf people, inter-faith dialogue, church links with local authorities and faith-based regeneration.

Speaking about his new post, he said:

> “Transforming communities has been a central theme of my ministry, and I am excited at the opportunity to help local churches become part of the transformation of their local communities. I am looking forward to hearing stories of churches transforming communities across the Diocese of Lichfield: both what is already happening and also those visions towards which parishes are being called by God.”

Diocesan chief executive Julie Jones said:

> “Transforming communities is an equal plank in the diocesan strategy with making new disciples and winning new generations; but it is an area we have recognised as not making our greatest impact. David Primrose will work under the oversight of the Bishop of Shrewsbury with colleagues, specialist advisers and interested groups to promote social justice as an integral part of Christian mission and ministry. He will teach and inspire creative and imaginative social action across a broad range of social and environmental issues and he will share good practice within the diocese at all levels.”
