As an entirely volunteer-run organisation we are incredibly grateful for the hard work local people dedicate to helping us thrive. There’s always plenty to be done and so here are a few roles we’re currently looking to fill. If you’re interested in any role, or just think your skills could help us, complete the form at the bottom of the page.
- Newspaper deliverers
Help our volunteer team deliver newspapers to various pick-up points throughout the district each fortnight. You’ll need your own transport and out of pocket expenses will be covered. - Social media content creator
Various tasks including posting about new/interesting things going on around the district, highlighting our volunteer team and/or creating sponsored content for social media channels. - What’s On co-ordinator
Ensuring our events calendar is as comprehensive as possible – keeping in touch with venues, organisers, community groups, training them to add their own events. Helps coordinate volunteers who provide reviews. - Local correspondents
For each locality, keep an eye on what’s going on and provide notes/copy for the editor to review. Work with What’s On Correspondent to publish events in the area. - Community engagement lead
Monitor social media and comments and foster a positive experience for the community. Solicit feedback, run surveys, deal with questions/complaints. Produce an annual report. Organise a presence at local events, such as markets, festivals etc. - Marketing lead
Finding awards and submitting/encouraging nominations. Celebrating our achievements through industry publications. - Sales lead
Works with the managing director and editorial director to create products for local businesses. Sells those products to local businesses. Manages the relationship with clients, soliciting feedback and fostering repeat business. - Donor relationships lead
Seeks out and encourages larger individual donors to complement the income from individual members. This would involve maintaining relationships with donors, discussing their goals for contributing and how their contributions help us to meet our aims. - Funding co-ordinator
Identifies grant funding opportunities and works with the board and wider team to develop and submit funding applications, ensure any funded projects we undertake are properly managed and results are fed back to the funder. - People support lead
Find and foster the volunteers that make us flourish.
