# Volunteers needed to help build woodland footpaths in Lichfield park

Volunteers are being urged to roll up their sleeves and help clear scrup and build footpaths through Beacon Park’s woodland.

Lichfield District Council’s Countryside and Parks Conservation Group is holding the event from 10.30am to 3pm on February 1.

Councillor Val Richards, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for leisure services, said: “Beacon Park’s woodland is well worth a visit, and this day will help us to create paths through the woodland so more people can get up close to nature.”

Councillor Alan White, cabinet member for development services, added: “As well as helping to improve your local park, the day will be a great way to learn new skills and meet other local volunteers, so come along and roll up your sleeves.

“We recommend wearing waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes or boots.”

The group will meet outside the Swinfen Broun Pavilion, in the middle of the park, at 10.30am. No skills are needed and volunteers will be given full training, but must be over 18 years of age.
