Walkers touring Lichfield's historic trees

Walkers have visited 40 of Lichfield’s historic trees to celebrate 40 years of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

Two of Lichfield District Council’s tree experts led the walk which was also organised by Lichfield Wildlife Group.

Setting off from Cathedral Close, the walk took in Beacon Park, Festival Gardens and ended at St Michael’s Church – where the group enjoyed refreshments and a slice of birthday cake.

Ray Allen, of Lichfield Wildlife Group, said:

> ”It was great to welcome so many people on our walk to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. Lichfield has a large and wonderfully varied collection of magnificent trees, many of which are quite rare in Britain. I would like to thank the council for leading the walk and giving us such a wealth of information.”
