A series of guided walks are set to make the history of Lichfield come alive.

The tourism team from Lichfield District Council have organised the walks that will take in a range of themes, from Dr Samuel Johnson to the city’s bawdier past.

The walks include:

- Heritage Trail – August 17 at 7pm and August 20 at 2pm: Lichfield is one of the smallest cathedral cities in England and has a rich and varied past. Learn more about the city on this tour. Cost £3 per person.
- Pubs, Priests and Prostitutes – August 27 at 2pm: Find out about some of Lichfield’s historical and colourful characters. Cost £3 per person.
- Boobies and Blockheads – September 10 at 2pm: Discover more about Dr Samuel Johnson’s Lichfield. Cost £3 per person.

On top of the city tours, there is also a chance to explore one of the area’s villages on the Alrewas Tour. Taking place on Sunday (August 14) at 2pm, the tour costs £5.50, which includes a cup of tea or coffee and scone at the George and Dragon pub.

Cllr Louise Flowith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, said:

> “Going on a walking tour is a good way to find out more about Lichfield’s past. August is the perfect time to take a tour as we’re offering ten per cent off all our walking tours to Lichfield Special Offer card holders during this month.
