# Warning after bogus caller targets elderly woman in Burntwood

Police are warning Burntwood residents to be on their guard after a bogus caller targeted an elderly woman.

The offender visited the property on Hospital Road at around noon on September 28, claiming to be from a local housing association and convinced her to hand over a large amount of cash to pay for work in her garden.

The man then returned to the house at 9am on October 3 or 4 saying he had a receipt for the woman before walking off.

He was wearing a distinctive knee-length brown coat and trilby hat.

An investigation by detectives is continuing and anyone who has seen the man, or knows who he might be, is asked to contact CID on 01785 235933\. Alternatively, they can ring Staffordshire Police on 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
