# Warning after bogus callers target property in Lichfield

People in Lichfield are being warned to be on their guard after a bogus caller targeted a property in the city.

The incident, at Leomansley Court on October 10, is believed to be linked to others across Staffordshire where victims aged between 86 and 101 have been targeted.

In each incident a conman has claimed he needed to check the taps before a second man stole cash.

Police say they are looking for two men aged around 30 to 40.

Detective Inspector Alan Lyford said: “These criminals tend to prey on the elderly, so I would urge family members, friends and neighbours of elderly people to remind them of the dangers surrounding bogus callers.

“There are no such companies as the Water Board, Gas Board or Electric Board. These words are only used by offenders, so be alert if they are used by anyone at your door.

“Our advice is clear and simple – if in doubt, keep them out.”
