Fire chiefs are again warning Lichfield and Burntwood residents to take extra care when firefighters take part in industrial action.

The second national walkout by members of the Fire Brigades Union will take place between 6.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday (October 19).

The previous industrial action [took place on September 25](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2013/09/25/staffordshire-fire-chief-praises-residents-after-industrial-action-hits-service/) and saw just four 999 calls received during the strike period.

And Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service bosses are again urging people to take extra care.

“We have stringent plans in place for this second round of industrial action and we will be answering and responding to all life risk incidents, said the Fire Service’s director of response Julian Hilditch. “However, we will not be able to provide our usual emergency response cover during the strike so it is vital that people are more vigilant than ever when it comes to safety.

“Unlike the first period of industrial action, this one will take place on a Saturday evening which is traditionally one of the busier times of the week for the fire service.

“There is no need to be alarmed but I would urge everyone to bear in mind that it will not be business as usual and to act accordingly.”
