# Warning to Lichfield and Burntwood residents ahead of strike by firefighters

Lichfield and Burntwood residents are being urged to take extra care as firefighters prepare to go out on strike.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union are set to walk out from 6.30pm to 11pm this evening (November 1).

A second strike is scheduled for 6am to 8am on Monday.

Philip Atkins, Staffordshire County Council’s Leader, urged people to take extra care, especially around any early bonfire night celebrations tomorrow evening.

“The fire service has been planning for this action for several weeks and I am confident they are well prepared for both Friday and Monday,” said Staffordshire County Council leader Philip Atkins. “However, there will be significantly fewer crews and fire engines available, so it is essential we are all extra vigilant and take extra care to ensure these crews can focus on dealing with real 999 emergencies only.

“The most important thing is that we all keep safe at home and on the roads and I would ask people to keep their eyes open for neighbours who may need extra help.”
