A website has been built to showcase a huge collection of gold artefacts unearthed by a Burntwood man in what is believed to be the biggest find of its type in the UK.

The Anglo-Saxon goods were [discovered](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2009/09/24/burntwood-man-uncovers-record-anglo-saxon-gold-haul/) in an unknown location by 55-year-old Terry Herbert at a location believed to be near Lichfield.

The discovery, now known as The Staffordshire Hoard, contains a number of warfare-type items in exceptional condition.

Many of the items are due to go on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, but the new website – [www.staffordshirehoard.org.uk](http://www.staffordshirehoard.org.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) – has given the public a sneak preview of some of the historical treasures which were found.

The site contains information on the Hoard and incorporates many of the pictures which have been made available on the Portable Antiquities Scheme’s [Flickr page](http://www.flickr.com/photos/finds/sets/72157622378376316/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).
