A number of famous faces will be on show in the city centre as the Lichfield Festival continues.

Laura Mvula’s vocal talents have fired her onto the national stage and her appearance at 7.30pm at Lichfield Cathedral is sure to prove popular.

Meanwhile, at the Lichfield Garrick TV presenter Kate Humble will lift the lid on her battle to save a piece of British farming heritage in the Wye Valley at 6pm.

The Lady Chapel at Lichfield Cathedral will feature an 11am cello performance by Phillip Higham, while author Richard Davenport-Hines will talk about his book An English Affair at the George Hotel from 2pm.

Guy Halsall will discuss his work Worlds of Arthur at the George Hotel from 3.45pm, while the Garrick will see prolific writer PD James talk about her career at 8pm.

Elsewhere, Iestyn Davies and Thomas Dunford will host a 10pm concert at the Lady Chapel.

Ruthie Henshall will talk at 4pm in the Lichfield Garrick about her life as a West End performer, while the Garrick Studio will welcome The School of the Night at 8pm.

A spokesperson for the show said: “A unique literary improv show, creating a new Shakespearean play from scratch at every performance based on audience suggestions – the result is an eccentric night of literary and theatrical celebration.

“Audiences can expect a highly skilled team of performers with an uncanny ability to channel the great poets and playwrights of the past – from Chaucer to Charles Dickens, from Pinter to Poe, from Jane Austen to Jilly Cooper.”
