A Lichfield junior football team has been boosted by a donation from a local business.

The under 9 Whittington Blades side were given £800 to help pay for new kits.

Whittington Blades celebrate their £800 donation

The money was handed over by [Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund](https://communities.centralengland.coop/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

Carl Evans, from Whittington Blades, said: “It means so much to our boys. They are a hard working and dedicated group who love playing football, learning and improving their skills each week.

“This funding opportunity means that we can not only provide them with a full away kit, but much needed rain jackets as the weather turns to winter.”

“We are proud to be associated with Central England Co-operative and are thrilled to be part of their Community Dividend Fund and look forward to be part of a winning team together.”
