WHITTINGTON endured struggles with the bat as they lost by seven wickets at home to Highcroft and Great Barr.

After winning the toss and going in to bat first, the hosts had little to cheer with only two players reaching double figures.

Opener Shazad Malik made 72 while Ethan Kelly reached ten as Whittington could only make 136 before being skittled out.

The visitors made light work in response, taking just 14.1 overs to pass the total with just three wickets lost.

Robert Powell was the pick of the Whittington bowlers as he finished with figures of 2-29.
