A new wakeboarding facility has been given the go-ahead by planners.

The scheme will see Chasewater become one of only ten sites in the UK to have a cable tow line.

In a statement to planning chiefs, the company behind the scheme said: “It is a relatively new concept that allows the sport to be undertaken without the need for either a speedboat or an expensive circular cable tow system.

“To date there are no straight line cables in the West Midlands, presenting an outstanding opportunity for Staffordshire to host the first site and also evolve to become a premier UK destination.”

Full details of the proposals can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s website.
