Burntwood U15s, not at their best, suffered their first defeat to Spartans since they first met at U13 level as hey went down 15-0 at Bassett’s Pole.
The first ten minutes were quite even with neither side gaining control then Burntwood’s handling let them down, a familiar failing, and the hosts were in for their first try.
They added two more in the second half. However, Callum Grundy should have put Burntwood back into it with what should have been one of the tries of the season. Collecting in his own half, he left all in his wake despite losing a boot, to go in under the posts only to then lose control of the ball in the act of scoring.
