Artists from across Lichfield and Burntwood are being invited to submit their work to the Staffordshire Open Art Exhibition.

The event at the Shire Hall Gallery in Stafford aims to showcase the talent within the county.

The competition is open to artists of any age who were born in Staffordshire or who live, work or study in the county.

County Councillor Pat Corfield said:

“We are extremely proud of the artistic talent that we have in Staffordshire. Artists not only add cultural value to the county, but a significant number make a living from their artwork and thus contribute to the economy.

“The Staffordshire Open Art Exhibition is an established part of the county’s arts scene and has provided a valuable showcase for professional and amateur artists.”

This year, the winner will collect a glass trophy and a main prize of £1,250

Submissions can include paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculpture, 3D mixed media and film or animation. All works must be original and produced within the last three years. Artists can submit their entries to the Shire Hall Gallery on April 1 and 2. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.staffordshire.gov.uk/openart.

The exhibition opens to the public on May 7 and will run until June 18.
