A permanent memorial to the life of one of Lichfield’s most famous sons has been inaugrated.

The statue of Erasmus Darwin on Cathedral Walk on the Darwin Park development, was funded by Section 106 money and the Conduit Lands Trust.

Representatives from all of the organisations who contributed to the project were present at the ceremony together with Desmond King Healey, Darwin’s biographer, and members of the Lunar Society of Birmingham.

It is planned that the route of the four orgainised walks that the Trust runs every year will include a visit to the statue.
