Johnson Beharry is set to carry the Olympic flame through the National Memorial Arboretum.
The Iraq War veteran won the Victoria Cross in 2004 after saving the lives of 30 comrades by charging down an ambush.

He will be honoured further after being chosen as the Torchbearer for the iconic visit to the Alrewas site on June 30.
Corporal Beharry said “Of course it will be an honour for me to take part in the Olympic Torch Relay, but it is a particular privilege to be carrying the Torch at the National Memorial Arboretum on Armed Forces Day, which is all about raising awareness of and support for the Armed Forces community and highlighting the outstanding contribution it makes to this country.”
County councillor Pat Corfield added: “We are thrilled to welcome the Torch Relay back to the county and it is marvellous to know a hero like Corporal Beharry will be carrying it.
“We have always been proud to fund the National Memorial Arboretum. Having recently signed our first Armed Forces Community Covenant there, confirming the County Council’s support for the military, we are looking forward to celebrating this momentous and historic occasion.
“The arrival of the Torch Relay coincides with Armed Forces Day, when the nation shows its support and appreciation for the men and women who make enormous sacrifices to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. It will no doubt be a very moving experience.”
