Thousands of people lined the streets of Lichfield as the city welcomed the Olympic torch.

After starting the day at the National Memorial Arboretum, the flame headed through Streethay and into the city centre before moving on to Hopwas.

LichfieldLive joined the relay as it travelled across the district…

(Big thanks to Warren Free, Kate Gomez, Ann Mayo and Annette Rubery for their contributions of photos and Kate for the video)

Well didn’t Lichfield pull out all the stops for an enormously fun enjoyable day. I particularly enjoyed the police motor bikers who joined in the fun whilst maintaining a discrete security. Well done.

I was on the stage with Lichfield Gospel Choir and in spite of some showers the crowd stayed and joined in with the singing.

All in all a well organized fun day for all. Well done Lichfield!

I was one of the Torchbearers on saterday 30/06 in Lichfield.
My number was 34 and my leg started here:
Leg 34 starts in Lichfield, and you will travel along Trent Valley Road (A5127) from Samuel Johnson Community Hospital and finish at Tesco Turnoff.
This journey will start at about 09:30am and cover a distance of 350 yards

As I am from Belgium now I’m looking for images taken that day in Lichfield.
Maybe you can help me to find images/films / photograhers who took pictures that day, because I have very few pictures of that memorable day.
My e-mail adress: walter.anthuenis@telenet.be

Thanks in advance if you could help me with this,
