Cuban piano star Roberto Fonseca is flying in to performan at the Lichfield Festival.

After shooting to prominence as a member of the Buena Vista Social Club, the musician has since gone on to forge a name for himself with a number of performances across the globe.
“There is a real feel-good factor in the music that comes out of Cuba, especially when its exciting rhythms are mixed in with some instrumental jazz virtuosity,” a spokesperson said. “And that is what you get from the pianist, composer and bandleader Roberto Fonseca.
“His band mixes Cuban percussion and his spectacular piano playing, and now he has added the African harp, the kora, into the mix for even more aural delight.
“Roberto hasn’t been a frequent visitor to these shores, which means it’s vital to catch him when he does come here.”
The Lichfield Garrick will play host to Roberto Fonseca at 8pm on July 11. For ticket details visit www.lichfieldfestival.org or call 01543 412121.
