A Lichfield schoolgirl has continued her success after being named regional Irish dancing champion for the fourth time in a row.

Heidi Hawkes retained her title at the Midlands Oireachtas in Birmingham over the weekend.

She took the win with a clean sweep of 100 scores from five adjudicators.

The King Edward VI School pupil also added team success to her individual triumph as a member of the Birmingham-based Kidd School’s ceili team.

“After missing out on lots of competitions during lockdown, it’s been great to get back out dancing with my friends and competing around the country again.

“There are some great dancers I get to compete with so it’s brilliant to manage to win the Midlands title for a fourth time.

“I can’t thank my teachers at the Kidd School enough for their support and helping get me to the top of the podium again.”
