People are being reminded of potential disruption due to road closures when the Staffordshire Ironman race takes place next month.

Around 3,000 competitors will be taking part in a 1.2 mile swim at Chasewater, a 56 mile bike round around the county and a 13.1 mile run in Stafford when the event takes place on 12th June.

But the race will mean that Chasewater Country Park will be closed to vehicles from 8am until 6pm on 11th June and 4am until 10am on 12th June.

The bike route will heading north of Burntwood and Lichfield, through Kings Bromley and Yoxall.

Staffordshire County Council’s deputy leader Cllr Philip White said:

“We’re delighted to see Ironman return to the county this year and with more athletes than ever before – it means we can once again showcase Staffordshire to visitors from across the UK and the world.

“We want to ensure that local residents and businesses are fully aware of the road closure details and to plan any journey in advance.

“We hope plenty of people turn out to enjoy the event and look forward to welcoming athletes, their families and friends to Staffordshire over the event weekend.”

Cllr Philip White, Staffordshire County Council

It’s about time that this pointless pile of complete nonsense was scrapped and hopefully never to be seen again. It’s a waste of money and causes a lot of unnecessary hastle for people in the area where this rubbish takes place and only benefits the Sport Billie’s with big ego’s.
