CALLUM Griffin hit a hat-trick as Lichfield City continued their title charge.
Jude Taylor and Callum Rudd were also on target as they beat OJM Black Country 5-2 at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium.
The opener came with just four minutes on the clock as Jamie Spiers found Griffin on the edge of the box and he curled the ball home.
Three minutes later and it was 2-0 when a blocked free kick found Jack Edwards who saw his shot hit Rudd and beat keeper Tom Clap.
The OJM stopper had to be at his best to prevent the game being over before it had really begun when he did well to keep out an Edwards strike.
But the visitors got themselves back into the clash when a free kick was spilled by James Beeson and Leslie Omorodion tucked home the rebound.
Lichfield restored their two goal advantage just before half-time though when Josh Mansell picked out the run of Griffin who slotted under Clap.
The City man wrapped up his hat-trick ten minutes after the break when Mansell again found Griffin who flicked over the defender before volleying home.
It almost got even better when Dan Lomas headed just wide from a Joe Haines corner, while sub Sonny Sheasby also nodded just off target.
Lichfield’s fifth goal came when Taylor bagged his third in two games as he headed Griffin’s cross home.
OJM pulled one back in the dying moments when Dan Danks netted from the penalty spot, but it was nothing more than a consolation as City consolidated their lead at the top of the Midland Football League Premier Division.
