A BURNTWOOD business has signed a deal it hopes will help unlock tens of thousands of acres of land for development.
Keon Homes has joined forces with consultancy Foster, Green and Brown to launch Brownfield Reborn.
It will see the two companies partner to provide free assessments of sites to help outline appropriate potential uses such as affordable housing, care homes, commercial use, open market housing or retirement schemes.
The service will also provide information on the potential value of such schemes.
Richard Williams, managing director of Keon Homes, said:
“Brownfield first has long been the mantra of political parties, but we all know it is not as easy as just inserting it into a manifesto.
“There tends to be heavy reclamation costs to get the land fit for purpose, owners tend to sit on sites as they don’t understand the true value of them and developers often prefer the easier routes of grey or green belt.
“Well, this could all be about to change with the introduction of our service that helps landowners maximise their brownfield opportunity.
“Our tried and tested system has already supported landowners to understand the value of their land and secure a lasting legacy for their families and wider communities.”
Since a soft launch of the initiative in December, Keon Homes says it has been “inundated” with requests for a valuation – with some already progressing towards a position where the sites could come to market over the coming year.
