A NEW fleet of waste collection vehicles has been rolled out across Lichfield and Burntwood.
The 26 refuse and recycling trucks replace the current ageing fleet on Lichfield District Council and Tamworth Borough Council’s Joint Waste Service.
The new vehicles have been supplied through a contract hire agreement with NRG Riverside, which includes full maintenance and servicing provided on-site at the Burntwood depot.
Cllr Phil Whitehouse, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for operational services, parks and waste, said:
“Our fantastic new fleet represents a major investment in the essential services our residents rely on every week.
“Thanks to our partnership with NRG Riverside, we’re confident we’ll be able to continue to deliver reliable bin collections to residents across the district and drive-up recycling rates.
“The new trucks are more environmentally friendly and are also packed with new safety features which will better support our fantastic crew of drivers and loaders and ensure their safety and well-being on their rounds.”
Gary Wilson, operations director at NRG Riverside, said:
“We’re proud to partner with Lichfield District Council and Tamworth Borough Council to provide a modern, efficient fleet that supports their ambitions for improved waste and recycling services.
“These vehicles are built for performance, safety, and sustainability. Our on-site maintenance provision at Burntwood will ensure maximum uptime and reliability for crews and residents alike.”
