THE director of the Victoria and Albert Museum will be the guest speaker at an event in Lichfield later this year.
Dr Tristram Hunt will be inaugurated as president of the Johnson Society at the organisation’s annual supper at the Guildhall on 20th September.
Dr Hunt, who is also a former MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Education, has published a number of history books, including The Radical Potter and The English Civil War – At First Hand.
The supper will see him give reflections on Johnson’s life and works. The event will also see contributions from civic leaders and students from King Edward VI School.
The Johnson Society’s chairman, Dr Phil Jones, said:
“The supper is not just for avid Johnsonians – although they are more than welcome – but for anyone living within the area who would enjoy a convivial evening of good food and wine in the candlelit setting of the splendid Lichfield Guildhall.
“It’s an evening of fun and good conversation and attendees come from all walks of life.
“Tristram is a vastly entertaining speaker and I’m sure that attendees will enjoy hearing him speak.”
Tickets, which include a three course meal, are £45 and can be booked from the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum in person or by calling 01543 264972.
