VOLUNTEERS working to restore the Lichfield Canal have been targeted by thieves.

Police say the Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust compound on Tamworth Road was raided at some point between 2.30pm on 14th July and 8.30am on 13th July.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said:

“The offenders have cut through the lock to the site and snapped the padlocks to the lock-up unit.

“They then proceeded to steal all the tools within the unit, including a pump, a stile saw, a lawn mower, a generator and two Dewalt drills and parts.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 158 of 16th July.
