A LICHFIELD artist has hit the heights by teaming up with a city centre attraction.

Jackie Roberts, owner of Love2dream, has worked with The Hub at St Mary’s to draw new display boards of the panoramic views as part of the relaunched tower tours.

The hand-drawn designs feature details about the landscape visible from the view above the city and took hundreds of hours to create.

Louise Fleming, CEO of The Hub at St Mary’s, said she was delighted to work with Jackie to enhance the tower tours for visitors:

“The old drawings were similar in style to Jackie’s and I knew she’d do a good job.

“We’ve had lots of lovely comments about the boards which help our visitors to identify the buildings they can see through the windows.

“They’re supported with fascinating facts by local historian, Jono Oates, so it really has been a team effort.”

Jackie has also created postcards displaying the views, which are available to buy at the city centre venue, with a proportion of sales going towards the running of The Hub.

Jackie said:

“I was so honoured to be asked to create the drawings for the boards.

“Each is hand-drawn and in total they took nearly 200 hours to complete, but I can now say I’ve drawn almost every building in Lichfield city centre.

“It’s exciting to think that they are the second thing visitors to the tower will see after the view – and it’s fantastic to have been able to create a legacy for future generations to see.”

The tower at The Hub at St Mary’s re-opened to the public in June after being closed for nearly ten years.
