A COUNCILLOR has branded a vandal who damaged the new base of a charity supporting young people with disabilities in Lichfield as “morally bankrupt”.
Police are still hunting the individual who used a hammer to smash windows on the Liberty Jamboree facility which is currently being built at Lichfield Sports Club.
The incident happened in the early hours of 31st July.
Cllr Andrew Clissett, Reform UK representative for Burntwood North at Staffordshire County Council, joined those to condemn the vandalism.
He said:
“What kind of person attacks a building being created for children and young people with disabilities? They are cowardly, pathetic and morally bankrupt.
“Liberty Jamboree is a lifeline for so many vulnerable young people in our community. Smashing it up with a hammer in the middle of the night isn’t tough, it’s a disgrace.
“I hope the police catch the individual responsible and they face the full weight of the law – and I hope anyone who knows anything speaks up.
“Our community will not tolerate this kind of behaviour.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 754 of 31st July.
